Newburyport Fishing Report

SPRING REPORT: We are gearing up for the 2016 seaon. We added a 25' privateer to our fleet last Aug. The boat is powered by a 225 hp Honda outboard. The boat is equiped with a porta potty in the cabin and has a nice hard top to shelter you from the sun and rain. We can take up to six passangers. We had the pleasure of filming a show for On The water TV last July. The show aired in Febuary and will be aired again in may. It can be seen on Comcast Sports net or online at On the water

tJune 22nd Report

There is pleanty of bait around The bass fishing has improved. The bottom of the tide and first hour or two of the incoming tide is producing some big bass at the mouth of the river. We are also catching some nice size keepers at the top of the incoming tide on the flats. Bigger bass are starting to cruise the beach front as well. We have picked up a few trolling live macs.

We took 3 keepers up to 36" drifting bait near the mouth of the river. We are hoping this is finally the start to a great summer. The fishing has been tough since we put the boats in. Cold windy days, no bait , and small finicky bass for the month of May

Aug. has come and gone. We have had many ups and downs with the fishing. We had some great trips with some big fish caught followed up by some slow trips with very few fish caught.

We are happy to announce the arrival of our new boat. We bought it in late Aug. It is a 25' Parker center console. It has a 9'-6" beam with tons of wide open deck space. We have done a few trips on it and will continue to fish from it this fall.

The Bluefish showed up for a few days the last week of Aug. They swept through and scattered the bait then dispersed themselves.

We are hopeing for a good fall run. We will be running Mon.,Wed., and Fri., afternoon trips (3-6pm) and weekends throughout Sept.

July Report:   Fishing has been up and down during the month of July. We have had days you dream about, then the next day we struggle to find fish. We have managed to land some big fish A 47" 40 lb bass is our biggest this season. We continue to explore new areas in an attempt to stay on top of the fish this summer. Our catch numbers have been down from past years. we have been avg. between 6 and 12 fish a trip

June 15th The bigger fish have started moveing in. Ocean conditions were rough this weekend. We waited 3 hours until we could get outside the river on sat. Capt. Paul was the high hook this weekend topping it off with a nice 45" bass that weighed in at 35 lbs

June 6th-12th

The Bass have been getting Bigger. We are stillnotseeing the numbers we have had in the past but fishing is improving. We are seeing 2-5 keepers a trip. Still lots of big schools of smaller bass which are fun on lite tackle. Bait is still around although we have experienced a few bluefish bite offs in the last few days.

June 3rd 2014:

There are pleanty of mackerl to catch and use for live bait. The larger bass seemed to key in on the large schools of herring and chased them all the way up river to Haverhill and lawrence. We have had mostly schoolie size fish around with an occasional 30-34 inch fish. We are hoping the larger fish show up this week. It Would be helpfull to string together a few days of warm sunny weather to help get the party started Last year we were getting 20-30lb fish the last week in May.
